Several cohorts have now graduated from the Cybersecurity Professional Bootcamp presented by HackerU. Graduates are finding jobs in the fast-paced industry.

During the summer, the first Cybersecurity graduating classes celebrated their achievements. The graduates completed the 10-month Cybersecurity Professional Bootcamp presented by HackerU, earned their certifications, and entered the workforce.

HackerU and Nexus implemented the Cybersecurity Professional Bootcamp in response to a growing need for qualified cybersecurity specialists. Students in the course are ideal candidates to fill these roles because of the practical experiential training that they receive from cyber experts. They come from a variety of backgrounds, with many seeking to change career paths by entering the fast-growing cybersecurity world.

Nexus at Michigan Engineering announced the Cybersecurity course in June of 2020, and the first cohort began their journey shortly after. Although they dealt with the additional stresses of pursuing an academic achievement during the pandemic, the students rose to the occasion. Students in the program benefited from more than 400 hours of curriculum tailored to today’s cybersecurity job market.

As of September 2021, more than 100 students have graduated from the program and are ready to take the next steps toward a thriving career in cybersecurity. Out of the graduates who shared their employment status from the very first cohort, 76% found employment within 5 months of graduation. Graduates from other cohorts are finding similar success using their new skills in the workforce.

Meanwhile, new cohorts are starting their cybersecurity journeys all the time. Through this valuable program, many students are gaining the skills necessary to excel in the fast-paced cybersecurity world.
