When the University of Michigan IT community planned the 2022 Michigan IT Symposium, they turned to the experts to ensure the hybrid event went off without a hitch. Because of Nexus’ position in the University as a leader of online learning, the team was fully equipped to orchestrate the technology for the live event.
The symposium, which featured a theme of “Helping Shape the Future of Learning, Research, and Care,” ran in a hybrid format for two days. Nexus Web Applications Manager Brian Slaght, Media Production and Course Support Manager Jason Walton, and Web Software Developer Brian Dunn worked together to support both the online and in-person experiences.
Using a custom-built system that Brian Slaght and Jason designed, the team created separate visual experiences for the in-person and online participants. Brian Dunn managed the online space and ran one of the breakout rooms. Jason and Brian Slaght did the same for the higher profile guests and the keynote speaker by running a system for both in-person and online participants in the main sessions.
By working together, the three created a seamless experience for all attendees, regardless of location. The Nexus team’s expertise and support led to a successful symposium for the entire U-M IT community. Jason shared, “We were more than happy to be involved with the IT Symposium. This was a great opportunity for Nexus to collaborate with our colleagues in the IT community.”
Nexus is proud to support events like this and to share expertise with the broader University community.
