The goal of the College’s Education Pillar is to ensure that every Michigan Engineering student benefits from an educational experience that is among the finest in the world. As a core part of that pillar, Nexus is reimagining engineering education for lifelong learning. Just like our brains are always on—forming new neural connections—so is Nexus always on—forming new connections between knowledge seekers and the greatest minds in engineering. This allows us to move always onward toward a new future — making connections among people and technologies to innovate teaching methods and modes that enhance learning.
“We aim to support faculty innovation.”Mary-Ann Mycek, Associate Dean for Graduate and Professional Education, Professor of Biomedical Engineering, and co-lead of the Education Pillar
“We aim to support faculty innovation,” explained Mary-Ann Mycek, Associate Dean for Graduate and Professional Education, Professor of Biomedical Engineering, and co-lead of the Education Pillar. Nexus “will be ‘always on’ — on campus, online, and on location — and will provide faculty with instructional design support to develop new online programs and provide platforms for lifelong learning.” Beyond design support and seed funding, Nexus also enables faculty in pioneering new technologies and methods for creating even more accessible pathways to a Michigan Engineering education.
